It is really not about me, it is about YOU when you come to my office, never the less so you know who I am.....
I believe we are all responsible for our own health. Preventative care is one way we can enhance our lives. We all know exercise and eating right are important, but so is taking time out for ourselves to do things that help us relax. Even when we are diagnosed with a disease or condition we still have choices. I believe that miracles happen and we can pray that can God heal us, but I also think we cannot expect him to lead our way if we are not willing to take the first step! It is my most sincere desire to be of service to others by helping to enhance and empower individuals to be the healthiest they can be!
I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelors degree in Nursing in 1981 and have practiced as a Registered Nurse ever since. Although always interested in adjunct therapies it was not until 2004 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer that I personally experienced the magnificent benefits of complementary medicine, specifically reflexology. Regular sessions during my surgical and radiation treatment helped prevent the usual fatigue, depression and other untoward side effects often reported by so many. At this point I knew I absolutely had to pursue an education in this wonderful healing modality. The state of Florida requires a reflexologist be licensed as a massage therapist so I attended The Central Florida School of Massage Therapy and became a Licensed Massage Therapist. Immediately after obtaining my license, I began pursuing my advanced training in reflexology with the International Institute of Reflexology (IRR) and I have been learning ever since!
I was very excited to learn during the initial phases of my training that the National Institute of Health had granted Michigan State University 3 million dollars to study reflexology and breast cancer. Please visit the website.
Two years after I was diagnosed with breast cancer I was diagnosed with melanoma. I was terrified. I kept praying/asking God for a sign that I would be okay. About 10 days after the initital diagnosis I had a dream. In my dream I was walking on the beach. I looked up and saw a brown wood cottage with 3 stairs and a screened porch. I was led to visit the shack. I saw myself walking up the 3 stairs and opening the porch door. I looked and I saw Jesus sitting in the far right corner in a throne- like chair. I immediately ran over to Him. I asked "Am I going to be okay?" He responded: "The Lord did not give us a spirit of fear, but the Spirit of power, love and self control." I asked Him again and this time with a slight smile He gently repeated the same scripture. Then He started to laugh and told me that like Martha I worry about many things. Then I saw myself (in my dream) kneeling at his feet using oils to massage His feet.
It was about one week later that I had surgical excision of the melanoma. My results showed all the cancer had been successfully removed. I did not require any chemotherapy or radiation! Ever since that dream I have incorporated essential oils into my practice and have been studying the ancient biblical oils.
I finally woke up one day (not to long ago) and realized how critical eating right, exercising and living in a wellness environment is to maintain optimal health. I have incorporated various fun and innovative wellness plans into my life. Please visit my events and fun facts page to learn more!
In addition to working in private practice, I am the reflexologist/massage therapist consultant at two different group homes for the severely disabled population. Touch has profound results on a population that rarely receives touch.
